Ingredients:

  • 1.1 lbs (500 g) ground beef (you can use pork or turkey if preferred)
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley (or 1 teaspoon dried parsley)
  • 1/4 cup milk (or 60 ml)
  • 2 slices sandwich bread, tore into pieces
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 can (14 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup white wine (or substitute with low-sodium chicken broth)
  • 8 oz (225 g) mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 cup (240 ml) water
  • 1 chicken or vegetable stock cube

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Preparation of the Meatballs:

  1. Chop the Aromatics:

    • Place the garlic and parsley in the Thermomix bowl. Chop for 5 seconds on Speed 4. Scrape down the sides with the spatula.
  2. Mix the Ingredients:

    • Add the milk, torn bread, salt, and black pepper to the bowl. Blend for 5 seconds on Speed 4. Combine this mixture with the ground meat in a large bowl, mixing until well integrated.
  3. Shape the Meatballs:

    • Lightly grease your hands with oil and form about 1.75 oz (50 g) balls. Place them on the Varoma tray.
  4. Optional: Prepare Potatoes:
    • If you’d like to serve with steamed potatoes, cut potatoes into chunks and place them in the bottom of the Varoma. If frying, you can do that separately later.

Preparation of the Sauce:

  1. Chop the Vegetables:

    • Add the onion and bell pepper to the Thermomix. Chop for 5 seconds on Speed 4 and scrape down the sides.
  2. Sauté:

    • Pour in the olive oil and sauté by setting the Thermomix to Varoma temperature, Speed 1 for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Add Liquid Ingredients:

    • Pour in the tomato sauce, white wine, and mix for 3 minutes on Varoma temperature, Speed 1.
  4. Final Cooking:
    • Add the stock cube, sliced mushrooms, and water to the bowl. Position the Varoma containing the meatballs on top. Cook for 25 minutes on Varoma temperature, Speed 2.

Serving:

  1. Once cooked, carefully remove the meatballs from the Varoma and place them on a serving platter along with the potatoes (steamed or fried).

  2. Pour the sauce generously over the meatballs, ensuring they are well-coated.

  3. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley and serve hot.

Professional Tips: 🌟

  • Perfect Texture: For extra juicy meatballs, mix the ground meat with finely grated onion before forming the balls.

  • Serving Suggestions: This dish pairs wonderfully with white rice or a fresh garden salad.

  • Thicker Sauce: For a rich, thicker sauce, add a teaspoon of flour to the sauté before adding the liquids.

  • Extra Flavor: Enhance the sauce with a bay leaf or a pinch of smoked paprika for a delightful twist.
